Working with a Jewellery Atelier Online

A Conversation at a Distance
An online consultation gives you a way to discuss a custom piece without first travelling to the atelier. Distance does not have to prevent a useful conversation about jewellery. References, messages and digital previews can help us discuss a design as it develops. Some decisions can be made remotely; others may benefit from examining a stone, checking a size or seeing the finished piece in person.
What Stays the Same
An atelier is traditionally a workshop or studio where artisans craft bespoke creations. The important part is still the collaboration between the person commissioning the piece and the jeweller making it. Online, that can include:
-
A conversation by video call about the person, the occasion and the design.
-
Digital design previews to examine the shape and proportions before manufacture.
-
Written references and feedback to help keep the decisions clear.
Making Remote Collaboration Useful
-
Conversation—A scheduled call gives us time to discuss the design and the questions that need attention.
-
Design previews—A digital model helps you understand the proposal before manufacture. It is a design aid; the finished materials and workmanship still matter.
-
Scheduling—Agree on a time and a way to exchange feedback that work for both of you.
-
A surprise proposal—If discretion matters, agree on how and when to communicate.
Where to Begin
You can start with an idea, a reference or simply an occasion you want to mark. That might be a birthstone necklace, a wedding band engraved with a meaningful date or a new setting for an inherited gem.
Bring the references that interest you and explain what you like about them. That gives us something specific to work with.
To discuss a commission from your location, contact the atelier with your ideas, timing and the questions you would like us to answer.
