A couple at rest among the vineyards of Niagara-on-the-Lake at golden hour

You don't need to be an expert on diamonds.

You need to be an expert on the person you love.

A different way to begin an engagement ring.

The Question

The surprise has always had a design problem.

For generations, couples have been asked to choose between two things:

Let her help choose the ring.

Or keep the ring a complete surprise.

We began wondering why those had to be opposites.

What if the person proposing could understand enough to get it deeply right—without turning the proposal into a shopping trip?

That question became Your Engagement.

Your Engagement

Begin with her.

We don't begin by asking for a diamond shape. We begin with the person.

What he sees in her.

What they notice about each other.

What she wears.

What she has saved.

The places that belong to them.

What their life feels like when everything else gets quiet.

Those fragments become design information.

The goal isn't uniqueness. The goal is recognition.

I'm a second-generation jeweller, but the longer I make engagement rings, the less interested I become in beginning with jewellery.

I'm interested in beginning with people.

I want to know enough about two people that the finished ring couldn't reasonably belong to anybody else.

Most engagement rings acquire meaning because of what happens after they're made.

Ours begin with meaning before we make them.

And we happen to be building it in one of the most romantic places we know.

Niagara-on-the-Lake is vineyards, orchards, old hotels, long dinners, wine, theatre, weekends away and generations of people coming here to celebrate one another.

We're interested in what happens when the engagement ring becomes part of that world. Not simply a purchase before the proposal.

The beginning of the engagement itself.

The ring isn't the relationship.

But if we begin with the relationship, the ring can become one of the places it lives.
